Annual Window Cleaning Programme at Twickenham Primary School

Meadow Vale Primary School Window Cleaning

Client: Twickenham Primary School
Sector: Education
Scope of Works: Annual Internal & External Window Cleaning, Including Skylights
Location: Bracknell, Berkshire
Company: Abacus Window Cleaning

Project Overview

As part of our scheduled annual cleaning programme, we were appointed to complete a full internal and external window clean across the main school building and adjoining sports hall at Twickenham Primary School in Bracknell. The purpose of this work was to maintain a bright, clean, and welcoming environment for both pupils and staff, ensuring optimal natural light and a professional appearance throughout the premises.

Scope of Works

The project covered all accessible windows across key areas of the school, including:

  • Sports Hall – External Windows
  • Main Building – External Windows
  • Sports Hall – Internal Windows (excluding any internal windows or doors not connected to the external structure)
  • Main Building – Internal Windows (excluding any internal windows or doors not connected to external glazing)
  • *All Skylights – Cleaned and polished for maximum light clarity

Our scope was clearly defined to focus on areas impacting light entry and visual presentation, ensuring full compliance with the school’s safety and access requirements.

Our Approach

To deliver a high-quality result with minimal disruption to school operations, the clean was planned during a quiet period on-site. Our operatives used pure water-fed pole systems for the external glazing, providing streak-free results without the use of harsh chemicals.

For internal windows, traditional hand-cleaning methods were employed to achieve a crystal-clear finish while protecting surrounding surfaces and fittings. Skylights were accessed using appropriate safety equipment, cleaned with care to restore brightness and eliminate the build-up of dust or residue.

Challenges and Considerations

Working within a live school environment required careful coordination and a strong emphasis on safety and discretion. Our key considerations included:

  • Minimising disruption to classrooms and common areas.
  • Ensuring safety compliance, including DBS-checked operatives and clear cordoning of cleaning zones.
  • Accessing high and difficult areas, such as skylights, using secure equipment and safe working practices.

By maintaining close communication with school staff and following all safeguarding procedures, the clean was carried out smoothly and efficiently.

The Result

The final outcome was a spotless, refreshed environment that enhanced natural light levels throughout both the main building and sports hall. The skylights once again allowed full daylight to filter in, creating a brighter and more pleasant space for pupils and teachers alike.

The school’s management commended the professional finish and efficiency of our team, noting the clear improvement in the overall appearance of the buildings.

Ongoing Service

This project forms part of our ongoing annual cleaning agreement with Twickenham Primary School, ensuring that every year the property’s glazing is maintained to the same high standard. Regular maintenance not only enhances the learning environment but also prolongs the life of window systems and fittings.

Our Final Say

Our work at Twickenham Primary School reflects our continued commitment to delivering safe, high-quality cleaning services to educational settings. Whether it’s routine maintenance or specialist one-off cleans, we take pride in achieving spotless results while maintaining the professionalism and care required in sensitive environments like schools.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Twickenham and supporting their commitment to providing a clean, inspiring learning environment year after year.
